Dove
Watching the collared doves in the garden one day (and we have dozens of pairs!)
I noticed that when the sun shines on their feathers they become almost luminescent, showing purples, pinks, blues, and greys.
And not content with just romantic colours, these birds, like the rest of the dove family, mate for life and seem to do an
awful lot of 'courting!' In fact, the term 'billing and cooing' to describe all that lovey dovey stuff comes from this behaviour.
These pieces have been created with mother-of-pearl biwa interpsersed with rosy Swarovski crystal pearls. The
dove colours are gently romantic and ideal for the traditional wedding. The bracelet has been elasticated, creating
a piece that would fit most wrists and that would also be a lovely bridesmaids' souvenir (that doesn't break the bank!).
Of course, it could also be made with silver fittings, creating something that any bride would be proud to wear.
These are sample pieces, designed to give you an idea of what
can be done with pearls and the dove colours to create reasonably priced wedding jewellery/bridesmaids' gifts.
Talking of price, the sample pieces (or pieces
made using similar components) come in at a very reasonable at £11.00 for the bracelet and £25.00 for the necklace,
including postage and gift boxes. Obviously, using higher grade materials - for instance AAA grade Biwa pearls (the
stick pearls) and similar quality round pearls -would increase the price. However, you would be purchasing heirloom
quality jewellery.
If you decide to commission
a bespoke piece I will always give you a range of prices based on using components of varying qualities. Do bear in
mind though that I always use the best quality components I can afford within the agreed budget.
