Welcome to Moon Cottage

Moon Cottage, in beautiful North Devon, is the home of Di Sandland and is also where she designs and creates her very special range of jewellery.

Working mainly in sterling silver, Di has recently added Argentium Silver to her materials list, mainly for its slow-to-tarnish properties. Having a husband who turns sterling silver black within a matter of hours has made Di very aware of the fact that not everybody can wear silver. If he can wear Argentium without turning it black then, she feels, most people will be able to.

Other materials regularly used by Di in her work include: fine silver, semi-precious gemstones, artisan lampwork beads, organza, suede and chiffon ribbons, and high quality greek leather cords.

In Di's 'other' life, she is a writer and it is, perhaps, this love of words that makes it important for her to tell the stories that inspire her pieces. A jewellery website filled with stories wouldn't be very efficient and so only a few appear here. However, where relevant a printed copy of the story will be mailed with your jewellery piece. As the majority of Di's pieces are one of a kind, the inclusion of the inspirational story makes each piece even more special; and they make wonderful gifts.

Getting Married or know Somebody Who Is?

I'm currently working on a range of bespoke silver jewellery specifically designed for weddings, which will be launched here on the website by the end of February 2010. The range I have in mind will make stunning souvenirs of the big day for the bride; smaller versions will make memorable bridesmaids' gifts. The range will also lend itself well to anniversary mementoes - for instance, silver weddings, graduations and baby births.
